Golf courses near Watchman Hotel & Restaurant

A delightful and relaxed hotel in the heart of Gullane.

The Watchman has 18 recently upgraded bedrooms, a cosy, inviting and dog-friendly bar, a private dining room, and a beautiful enclosed garden.

We also have a large garden room for special events.

Whether you have been golfing on one of the many local golf courses, enjoying the beautiful sandy beach, walking the John Muir way or are simply wanting to get away from it all, we at The Watchman look forward to welcoming you.

We are lucky enough to overlook four of Scotland’s best golf courses and there’s a fifth within walking distance.

The picturesque village of Gullane boasts an award-winning unspoilt sandy beach popular with families, dog walkers, swimmers and kite surfers. If you’re very lucky you might even see a dolphin!

Come and relax in our newly refurbished bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms painted in some of Farrow and Ball’s most gorgeous colours. Our deluxe showers and top of the range beds have been installed with your comfort in mind.

We have thought of everything to maximise your enjoyment, including amazing wifi if you are juggling work and play; flat screen TVs and views out over the golf courses or the village. But we don’t want you to get too comfy as we would love to see you downstairs!

Come and enjoy a freshly cooked all day brunch, lunch or dinner at the Bar and mingle with the locals, golfers, walkers or cyclists who have come to explore all that Gullane and East Lothian have to offer. We even have our own beer and gin specially chosen (and tasted) by us. So come and prop up the bar or sit with a book in front of the fire.

Alternatively, if you are looking to escape working from home with young children or other halves wandering in and out, why not come down to the Lantern Room – a working hub by day and a restaurant/extension of the bar by night. This gorgeous oak-panelled dining room can also be used for a private dinner, corporate brainstorming, or for an American golf tour group looking to watch their favourite baseball team in the World Series. The possibilities are endless.

After a day outdoors….

…..on the golf course, walking the John Muir Way or cycling the roads of East Lothian, why don’t you leave your golf bag in the store or your bike on our bike rack, and head straight to the bar! If you have had a day at the beach, you can leave any of your wet kit in the drying room.

There is a large car park to the rear of the hotel.
