The long-established pub The Powell is the oldest hostelry in Birchington.
Named after Squire Powell of Quex, the High Sheriff of Kent in 1823.

Enjoy elegance, soft hues and classic touches which accentuate the original features of the building. Join us for Fine dining in our Restaurant, Tuesday to Saturday from 6:30pm – 9:00pm or for a more traditional pub lunch Monday – Saturday 12:00pm – 3:00pm. 

Fancy a roast? Then join us on Sundays 12:00pm – 4:00pm, Book to avoid disappointment! 

At The Powell All Our Food Is Freshly Prepared Daily By Our Head Chef & His Team By Using The Best Locally Sourced Ingredients. 

The Powell Bar & Restaurant is run by General Manager Scarlet Darby & Restaurant Manager Sarah Moore and Their Wonderful Team.

The Heart of the square in Birchington-On-Sea our family run village pub The Powell has everything you require for a relaxing stay with us. After a total refurbishment we are now offering 6 luxury boutique rooms all with en suites. Each of our unique rooms have Egyptian cotton bed linen, flat screen TVs, Wi-Fi, hairdryer & Tassimo machines. In your en-suite marble bathroom your will find a spacious shower, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries.

We have an extensive bar serving cask ales, a good selection of fine wines and a superb choice of spirits. We have seasonal lunch & dinner menus and a fresh choice of fish every day! If your joining us on a Sunday, we also offer a traditional home cooked roast with all the trimmings. We source local produce whenever possible and all our desserts are homemade. We have a beautiful beamed restaurant and orangery where breakfast will be served next to All Saints Church, a cosy snug and bar with log burners and terrace seating overlooking Birchington Square.

We are in the centre of the village, 10-minute drive from coastal Margate, 25 minutes’ drive from historic Canterbury and only ten miles from Royal St George’s Golf Club.
