The Bear of Rodborough Gloucestershire
Retreat to The Bear on Rodborough Common, nestled amongst the rambling hills of beautiful National Trust land with the odd roaming cow venturing in between. Sink into the ultimate escapism that’s a home away from home.
Escape the “hecticness” of everyday life, hang your coat up and sink into one of our cosy armchairs next to the warmth of an open log fire without a care in the world. The Bear of Rodborough is a little more than your average hotel on the side of the road.
We began life in the 17th century as a former coaching inn. Set within 300 acres of land belonging to The National Trust, the beautiful landscapes and rambling hills go on as far as the eye can see, all the way to the River Severn and Wales in fact.
Home to the dog walking community and golf enthusiasts, with a course perfectly positioned in the heart of The Common, The Bear also has another special local grazing nearby. The herd of Belted Galloway’s were the first cows to ever roam The Common, and have been cherished as part of the community ever since, particularly around the 18th hole.
Part of the Cotswold Inns and Hotels collection, The Bear has 44 en-suite bedrooms which have all been individually designed with an attractive mix of antique and contemporary furniture and classic country style.
Sink into a cosy armchair by the crackling log fire with a book, or have a chat with friends. There’s always a treat to be had in The Bear Bar, whether it’s a pint of cask ale, a naughty hot chocolate with marshmallows, or a pot of English tea with one of the chef’s homemade cakes.
