Golf courses near Old Church Farm

We are ideally situated with eight golf courses within ten miles of Old Church Farm.

Originally known as Alveston Manor, Old Church Farm can trace its noble history back to Medieval times when it was owned by King Harold of Wessex prior to the Norman Conquest in 1066. It was taken over by William the Conqueror and subsequent Kings of England who used it as a hunting lodge. In 1149 it was given over to barons beginning with Fulk I Fitzwarin.

It was seized back by King John in 1216 following a family dispute. More recently it was owned and run by Rolls Royce PLC as a private hotel and now is now in private hands and open to the public for the first time in its history. Within South Gloucestershire there are 37 monuments which have national status. These are known as scheduled monuments. Scheduled monuments are monuments and archaeological sites of national importance, which are given the highest level of protection. The ruins of the Church of St Helen in our grounds is one of those monuments.

Seven en suite rooms with Hypnos beds ensure a comfortable stay here in the South Gloucestershire countryside. The 35 foot drawing room, panelled study with its original tudor feature ceiling and grounds are also open to our clientele. Following an AA inspection in August 2018 Old Church Farm was awarded the Gold Award with 5 Stars – the highest accolade in Great Britain. At the same time we picked up awards for breakfast and dinner.

A separate conference facility with 3 meeting rooms caters to business visitors and the skittle alley is a great party venue. Stay for as little as one night or book the entire property outright for family get-togethers, business conferences and weddings.

At Old Church Farm we are happy to share the spacious drawing room, dining room, reception room and study with our guests. There are many Tudor features including decorative plaster and stone fireplaces.

All our bedrooms have en suite facilities, welcome tray with tea and coffee making facilities plus home-made biscuits, digital TVs, wardrobes, desks, alarm clocks, cd player, DAB radio and a view of either the rose garden, the surrounding countryside or the historic churchyard. The beds and mattresses are ‘Hypnos’ which are widely considered to be the best in the world. Every room has been designed with its own character.

The conference centre with its meeting rooms, which are arranged on two floors have large format displays, air conditioning and velux windows ensuring your meetings are kept private. Sky digi boxes allow you to keep up to date with the news or to unwind between meetings. Fibre broadband is available wirelessly or through network ports. The conference centre can be booked outright or as individual meeting rooms for half-day, full day or 24 hours.
