Golf courses near The Gurnard's Head

Sister to the well known Felin Fach Griffin near Brecon, The Gurnard’s Head is an award winning dining pub with seven bedrooms near Cape Cornwall Golf Club on Cornwall's Atlantic coast. It lies between St. Ives and St. Just, and near the Minack Theatre, Zennor, Penzance and Newlyn.

Just fifteen minutes from Cape Cornwall golf course and within reach of a number of others Cornish courses, the Gurnard’s is an excellent base for a break that combines good seaside golfing with walking among one of Britain’s most impressive coastal landscapes and a dollop of culture in west Cornwall’s artistic hotbed.

Upstairs, all seven rooms have the most comfortable of beds from Vi-Spring, with the salty air proven to make you sleep so deeply. All rooms have their own bathrooms, White Company toiletries, Roberts radios and Egyptian Cotton style linen. Three rooms can be made up as twins. Dogs are welcome at no extra charge.

The Gurnard’s Head has received a number of awards for its food under the Inkins’ ownership, including Best UK Dining Pub from the 2009 Good Hotel Guide. Bruce Rennie produces food of simplicity but great quality using the best of the Cornish larder. Three courses at Dinner are no more than about £27.50.

As far as drink is concerned, The Gurnard’s Head is a community pub and it is an ever present in the Good Beer Guide. An AA Notable Wine List, the Gurnards’ wines bear comparison with any in the country with as many as 15 wines served by the glass and by the carafe, and another 50 sourced from as many as 8 different wine merchants who specialise in different regions.

We loved the place as soon as we set eyes on it. We hope you will too. And we are open all year, so please do come and visit us. Bed & Breakfast rates are from £45.00 per person and Dinner Bed & Breakfast from £67.50. Seasonal offers such as the two night September Sleepovers and the Winter Escape represent even better value for those able to visit at quieter times.
