Gosforth Hall Cumbria
Our 17th Century Inn located in the stunning Western Lake District
Originally built in 1658 Gosforth Hall has been lovingly restored to offer a number of original features including sandstone walls and oak beams. The en-suite bedrooms in the main building are as luxurious as you will find in the Western Lake District. No expense has been spared in the refurbishment and these rooms including the large walk-in wet rooms. The Copley Suite takes up the whole south wing of the top floor and is ideal for special occasions, or romantic breaks.
Gosforth Hall Inn has a lounge, bar and restaurant, but if you prefer al fresco dining the beer garden is one of best in this area and gives you a Mediterranean feel in the Lake District.
We offer a choice of bedrooms, apartments and a luxury suite to suit all tastes and budgets.
Within the main Grade II listed building there are four stunning King Deluxe en-suite bedrooms with sandstone walls and large walk-in wet rooms. Here you will also find our fabulous Copley Suite which takes up the whole south wing of the top floor.
The Annex which was built in 2010 offers a choice of 13 en-suite bedrooms which all offer Super King / Twin beds, each with walk-in wet rooms. The rooms located at the rear of the Annex offer unspoiled views of the countryside.
Gosforth Hall has a bar, lounge and snug for those wishing to dine inside. For those looking to dine in a beautiful beer garden with a Mediterranean feel, we would highly recommend alfresco dining in our beer garden, which has recently been refurbished and is fast becoming a favourite with our diners, especially on a warm evening.
Gosforth Hall has a reputation for cooking up a perfect blend of pub classics you know and love from Chicken Melts, Burgers, Fajitas and Lasagne to Rib Eye Steaks, homemade Pies and Salmon using local and seasonal produce where possible.
We are ideally located in the western Lake District close to the stunning Wasdale Valley where you will find Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain and Wastwater, England’s deepest lake. Gosforth Hall offers the perfect base to explore the mighty western fells including Great Gable, Kirk Fell, Pillar, Yewbarrow, Scafell Pike, Great End and Lingmell to name just a few.
There are three fabulous golf courses located close to the Inn including:
Seascale Golf Course which is a beautiful yet challenging 18-hole links course http://www.seascalegolfclub.co.uk/course.aspx?course=417
Eskdale Golf Course which is also an 18-hole course with stunning fell views https://www.facebook.com/eskdalegolf.course/
St Bees Golf Course which is a charming 9 Hole Course on the shores of the Irish Sea https://www.stbeesgolfclub.co.uk/about/
Our bar at Gosforth Hall Inn is a welcoming place for all and at any time of the day or evening. Serving food daily, choose to eat or drink in our two bar areas each with roaring open fires during the winter months. When it’s warmer, head out to our hidden gem of a Mediterranean inspired beer garden.
After a round of golf, what could be better than a pint of real ale and we have either three or four different ales on at any one time. We like to showcase the fantastic Cumbrian breweries both the larger and micro but also some a little further afield.
So, if you’re looking for somewhere that offers a range of golf courses on the western coast of Cumbria to cover a short or long weekend of golfing, or looking to relax after an invigorating day on the golf course, what better place to place stay than Gosforth Hall.
We always welcome families and the bar and beer garden are both dog friendly too.
