The Black Bull is a traditional Northumbrian Inn with parts of the building dating back to the 12th century. Situated on the edge of the village green in the heart of the pretty village of Wark. Visitors to the Hotel will find themselves surrounded by the fantastic scenery of the beautiful Tyne Valley, and indeed only a stones throw away from one of the wider stretches of the Upper River Tyne.

Wark was once the capital of North Tynedale and its central location is ideal for exploring this wonderful area. The Black Bull Hotel is perfectly situated for visitors to the area to sample the delights the area has to offer like Kielder Water, Hadrian’s Wall Country, Hexham and Kelso Race Courses, The Scottish Borders and Northumberland’s National Park all of which are easily accessible.

The Black Bull is an ideal base for golfers, cyclists and walkers, a popular place to quench your thirst and re-fuel with some hearty home cooked food. Take a well deserved break and relax in our garden or patio area while enjoying the fresh Northumbrian air. Your host Liz and the Black Bull staff will ensure you receive the warmest of Northumbrian welcomes and encourage a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Why not stay longer and use the hotel as a base to explore the area. We offer Bed and Breakfast accommodation with a traditional English breakfast. All of our rooms are en-suite and well presented, most having beautiful period fireplaces.

Wark sits on The Reivers Cycle Route and the hotel provides secure lock-up facilities for cyclists.

Hexham, the ‘Capital of Tynedale’, and voted ‘market town of the year’ is only 15 minutes away, it is steeped in history and dominated by a magnificent 7th century abbey.

A bus service runs every hour from Hexham to Wark, there is also a train link to both Newcastle and Carlisle.
