The Castle at Taunton is steeped in the drama and romance of English history. Once a Norman fortress, it has been welcoming travellers to the town since the 12th century.
We have 44 bedrooms providing a variety of different types of accommodation. All are individually decorated and offer LCD TVs, WiFi, tea & coffee making facilities and complimentary Hildon water. Bathrobes are available for use in our Garden Suites.

Each of our private dining rooms has their own unique style.
The Penthouse is probably the most exciting setting for private entertaining in the South West. Located at the top of the Castle, guests can enjoy panoramic views of the Quantock Hills on one side and the Blackdown Hills on the other.
This is the room to choose for parties of up to twelve. The accommodation includes a drawing room, dining room, cloakroom, a roof-top garden terrace and, of course, your own butler to take care of you and your guests.
The Moat Room is a larger but very elegant room designed with private dining in mind. The room is large enough to have a small private bar and up to twenty-four people seated at an oval table setting. With its burgundy fabric walls and two chandeliers this is one of our most popular dining rooms.
The Monmouth Room, named after the ill-fated Duke of Monmouth, is our largest private dining room. Here you can invite up to sixty-nine close friends to join you in a dinner to remember. And finally....
A favourite Castle combination is to serve pre-dinner drinks and canapés in the Penthouse followed by dinner for up to twenty-four in the smaller section of the restaurant.
