With a tradition of hospitality dating back more than 700 years, you are assured of a warm welcome at the Shaven Crown hotel. This medieval hostelry, one of the ten oldest inns in the country, is set opposite the church and village green in the heart of the picturesque Cotswold village of Shipton-Under-Wychwood. Steeped in history, the hotel is full of charm and character with log fires, real ales and delicious food. It is perfectly located for exploring the Cotswolds, with Blenheim Palace and the historic towns of Cheltenham and Oxford nearby.

The hotel has eight en-suite double bedrooms (two of which can be set up as twins) grouped around the medieval courtyard. Each room is unique, but all abound with traditional charm and character, especially our feature room which was once the chapel, and boasts a four-poster bed and double height ceiling. One large room is situated on the ground floor enabling access for those who wish to avoid too many steps (this can also be used as a family room). Additional beds and travel cots are available on request.

Warm and cosy in the winter, cool in the summer and always full of atmosphere; the Monk's Bar provides the perfect setting for guests and locals to enjoy real ales, fine wines and excellent food. The bar is overflowing with character (as are the locals!), and you are warmly invited in at any time of day or evening to enjoy a variety of eating options. Choose from the full a la carte restaurant menu, which includes lighter meals and salads, or there is a range of sandwiches available during the day and early evening.

Food and drink have always been important at the Shaven Crown and the tradition continues today. For those who wish to dine in calm and tranquillity we recommend our intimate restaurant, while the courtyard provides the perfect setting for al fresco dining in the summer. Our extensive menu features traditional British cuisine, and we take great pride in the food that we serve, using only the finest quality fresh ingredients and endeavouring to use local game and produce whenever possible. Those seeking a more lively night of revelry can eat with the locals in the Monk's Bar where the menu includes more traditional snacks.
