Portland House is an impressive dwelling dating, in some part, back to the 17th century, and situated close to the border between England and Wales in the picturesque Wye Valley.

We have undertaken an extensive refurbishment programme, restoring a considerable part of our beautiful house and garden to an excellent standard of award winning accommodation. A beautiful slate floor has been installed in the front and rear halls and both the lounge and dining room have been sympathetically renovated. We believe this is why we have been selected for inclusion in two publications both entitled Best B and Bs in the UK, one published by the AA, the other by Worldwide Altas. co.uk

We offer guests the use of the very comfortable and spacious lounge in which to relax, watch satellite television or maybe enjoy a game of chess, and it's especially cosy in the winter with a log fire.

Our adaptable sleeping accommodation consists of The pretty daffodil white Marstow Room (standard double), The elegant Magnolia Room (standard double) and The Doward Room (twin), all ensuite. We also have 3 larger suites - a superior large suite with a large 4 poster bed, a 2 bed roomed family suite accommodating up to six people, and a ground floor suite catering for wheelchair users and people with accessibility problems which has been accessibility rated by Quality in Tourism.

Our large, elegantly furnished dining room, with its beautiful Victorian fireplace, is the perfect place to enjoy the wonderful three course breakfasts. Very cosy in the winter with a log fire. All are home-cooked with our Aga, including the home made marmalade, jams and bread, as well as our very own different ranges of home-made muesli. We also cater for special diets and rotate menus to add interest, the traditional British breakfast is always available and cooked to order, but there are always three alternatives available. All meals are always made up of local produce.
