The Morangie, a fine old Victorian mansion, is set on the northern outskirts of the Ancient and Royal Burgh of Tain, one of Scotland's oldest burghs.

Built in 1903 by a local architect, its grand design and spacious and elegant rooms provide accommodation of the highest quality and comfort.

The hotel has been extensively modernised and tastefully decorated to maintain its original character of graciousness.

There are twenty-six bedrooms in the hotel, all individually decorated and furnished to the highest standards.

All rooms have an en-suite bathroom, direct-dial telephone, hairdryer, trouser press, tea and coffee making facilities, and television, including Sky.

For that extra touch of luxury, there are 3 Master bedrooms. All have four-poster beds and large bathrooms complete with whirlpool corner baths.

Tain has its own golf course, which is situated on the shores of the Dornoch Firth. The course is on grounds known locally as the Morrich More where whins, bends, natural bunkers and the river Tain all add to its sense of character and challenge. The design has holes that play to all points of the compass, making each round a unique experience.

The course is always in excellent condition, thanks to a team of enthusiastic greenkeepers. In 1992 Head greenkeeper Ian Macleod was awarded the honour of being the “Premier Greenkeeper of the Year in Scotland”. Whatever time of the year you choose to play, Tain golf course is always in excellent condition.

The Morangie House Hotel can make reservations and arrange discounted green fees for Tain Golf Course. Tain Golf Week is held the first week in August each year and is open to non-members - a fantastic competition with over 100 competitors. The course is 18-hole, par 70 and open all year.
