The Best Western George Hotel has 23 en suite bedrooms and is located in the very heart of Thames Valley in the centre of the village of Pangbourne. The village is ideally situated, being close to junction 12 on the M4, the Arlington Business Park at Theale, a 10 minute train ride to the centre Reading, from there it is a mere 30-minutes to Paddington. This makes the hotel ideally situated for business purposes, close to main centres of local commerce whilst retaining a village environment.

Famous for our hospitality, selection of ales, beers, spirits and wines, our bar is frequented by a steady and diverse flow of people throughout the day. Attracting an eclectic array of guests from ages18 to 80, the atmosphere is busy yet relaxed.

Hotel guests and locals come in to talk, relax, read the papers, chat or check their emails over coffee. At lunchtime we're busy with customers who want to enjoy good food, at a reasonable price, that has been sourced locally with our specials menu that changes every day. And in the evening we're filled with the friendly locals of Pangbourne – ale enthusiasts, beer connoisseurs and wine lovers who come in to chat and enjoy the friendly environment.

Chef Christopher Prow has extraordinary passion for cooking & it shines through the dishes he creates. He pays particular attention to seasonality and freshness. Chris’ previous roles included being chef proprietor of The Cross Keys Inn; head chef at Le Petit Square (Newbury), where he obtained Michelin recommendation; The Pot Kiln (Frilsham), where he aided Mike Robinson in setting up his new venture whilst being filmed for the television documentary “Heaven’s Kitchen.” He was also a Sous Chef at The Wolseley (London), a 2 rosette restaurant & included in the top 50 restaurants in the world and The Milestone Hotel (London), to name a few.

Chris is also a regular broadcaster on BBC Radio Berkshire, where can be heard spreading the word in suitably energetic style. He is definitely not conventional or straight laced in his approach
